Devonshire

Devon by County
Devonshire by name
Exeter the capital
Part of England's frame
Her coat of arms
That warrants claim
Displays a red crowned lion
And Naval fame
Three sea faring Sirs
Are Devon born
Chichester Drake - Raleigh
Nautical strong
We all come from somewhere
Not where we reside
Its from back in the past
On our ancestors tide
So where ever you are
And where you are from
On this beautiful Earth
We all belong
" A big thank you, from me to Carolyn, for her help and inspiration,ty "
Tallahassee Lassie

Down Tallahassee
Down Florida way
The talents of a poet
Make this Highlanders day
The writes we read
The tales she shares
Incredible words
Just make me stare
The more I read
The more I enjoy
I'm like a new kid
With it's favourite toy
As her grammar builds
The pictures show
Her mind on paper
As her words purely flow
A start and finish
Is a must
A poets honour
As the readers trust
This poet has it in her every say
I smile when her names my way
The manner in which she enriches us
To my poems she comments
And makes me blush
Proud polite and never flashy
This most wonderful
Tallahassee Lassie
The Lady by the Ocean
The sands on the beach
Are like the colour of her hair
As I sit by the ocean
All I can do is stare
The blue of the ocean water
Can never match her eyes
Despite our natures wishes
All she can do is try
The blue skies above her
Carpet her ceiling surround
Her posture of delight
In plentiful abound
Her body is slight and tanned
A joyous site to see
This blond beach lady in the sun
Gracing the land of the free
Mmmm - Kisses

Kisses for today
Kissing for tomorrow
Some for joy
Some for sorrow
Kisses are affection
In various ways
Relayed
Every day
Kisses to greet
Kissing goodbye
Some to be happy
Some to cry
Kissing moments
Who ever you may be
Oooo Miss Devonshire
Please kiss me
She's forever in my thoughts

This girl with the golden hair
All I do is close my eye's
For me she's always there
Her beauty captivates me
As my mind enjoys so much
Sometimes in my dreams
I want to reach out and touch
When I see her face
Her eye's of electric blue
They sparkle like starry skies
Their reflection shows she's true
This girl I see in my dreams
She's all the above and more
It would be very hard for any man
Who seen her, not to adore
Farewell, Dear Nightbird (Cowritten with Carolyn Devonshire)

You were but three inches tall that day
When I heard you cry and ran outside
To stand between you, my beloved owl
And a swooping hawk, wings three-feet wide
Little me, new born owl of the night
Staying in my wooded habitat
Being brave enough to venture out
Golly, Ollie, thinking what was that
Each night you have serenaded me
But today I bring sad news, sweet friend
I must move away and leave you here
Our life together's about to end
To part, but in different places
The lovely times we shared together
This so sad Barn Owl and his neighbour
We two birds will always be tethered
And when the moon overcomes the sun
I'll listen for your cries o'er the waves
Your gentle croon brought peace and comfort
It's a memory my heart will save
The Nature of Man. Co-written with Carolyn Devonshire
My molten core is bursting at the seams
Billowing ash and smoke circle above
Volcanic eruptions are on the rise
Intense balls of fire I toss from my glove
That damnation isle, this Icelandic land
Eating away at our profits, typically planned
This mother nature, no dollar sense
No bonus for us, can she redistribute and condense
Mankind has been playing hardball too long
His head's over-sized and his ego too strong
Iceland is but the tip of the iceberg
I'm now plotting the next eruption surge
There she goes firing of again
Airports are closing, grounding more aeroplanes
Tourism again hampered by her vociferous bellows
Which is a pain in the ass for us holidaying fellows
Don't toy with my gifts; I'll be more gentle
Your fine Earthly home is but a rental
Be kind to my creatures both great and small
Perhaps my fiery heart will cool down after all
Perhaps we have been harsh shooting from the hip
It's a trait of man, it's why we self worship
We appear to have grown a streak of selfishness
As we now look around at our self made mess
Angel 1

All i write is free on here
What captures me
Is a Devonshire ear
Vibes and thoughts
Appear to be
Have we met before
Let me see
Was it the Merrimac
Or Monitor
Her Grandads being
In the Civil War
Reincarnation is just a word
Some believe
Some absurd
Tell me what you want to know
If I was there
My mind will flow
I'll close my eyes
Reveal to you
Are you someone
I once knew
Do not panic
Its only me
I will look around
If you're there
I'll see
You're in my world
No harm to you
My monitors guide you through
Angel 1
One being the best
The Devonshire
Zest
Maiden of the Falls

The heat is searing
Humidity high
Cooling required
My body cries
To the woods i head
For I know of a place
Where privacy allows
Ones body to grace
A ledge of old
Amid a clearing of green
Where the birds rejoice
In this beautiful scene
Before I arrive
You can hear the sounds
Of clear crystal waters
In rhapsody rebound
I pass through the lush
And my eyes behold
A maiden so shaped
With hair so gold
The water cascades
From this ledge of old
Sparklingly clear
Crisp and cold
Downwards it flows
As my view enthrals
A maiden so beautiful
Neath the falls
Inspired by Carolyn's Haiku " Showering 'Neath the Falls "

Poets in Sync " Two Peas in a Pod "

April this year
2009
Writing and posting
Wow, it's all going fine
Miss Gorelick, Miss Devonshire
Welcomed me aboard
Two lovely ladies
Wow, this Highlander's scored
But honestly
The feeling i received
Was very much more
Than I had dream-ed
The weeks progressed
As i wrote my poems
The comments by Carolyn
Had kept me going
As I wrote away
Topics and themes
Historical and nature
Subjects to me, supreme
As I read Carolyn's
And she read mine
Two peas in a pod
It springs to mind
Similar writings
And some even the same
Signals in harmony
Sailing the same plain
And look at us now
A collaboration couple
Our future in write
A poet double
Our poems together
Two heads as one
Look out for our postings
There's much more to come
Sauropod Survivor Saviors (Co-written by Carolyn Devonshire & James Fraser)

Shh! Scientists can't find us, only natives know
Sauropods survived when dinosaurs went extinct
Cameroon people have spotted us many times
Please help us hide! Our species' future's on the brink!
Email received, confirmed sightings in Cameroon
Scientists meet, to discuss an expedition
To discover such creatures are living today
We must investigate, fact or speculation
Damn! The word has gone out that we may be alive
Guess leaving footprints three-feet wide was not too wise
Researchers are arriving with sonar in boats
Thirty-foot forms in rivers are hard to disguise
We are now underway, West Africa we head
In search of this wonder will these Sauropods show
To capture them on film to learn how they survived
Will they reveal themselves, in their dense jungle flow
The Jurassic Period? They were way off base
They think that was the demise of most dinosaurs
Scientists haven't a clue, but 'tween me and you
My Loch Ness cousin's laughing; he's a plesiosaur
Africa reached, camp set up in the jungle
It's certainly different to Drumnadrochit
Footprints, something big up ahead is closing in
By jove a Sauropod, I think we've found it
Oh, Dear! I just stepped out of the river to eat
I am with child and needed to munch some leaves
But I think I've been spotted; I was our last hope
I carry our species' last female, I believe
A glimpse through the trees sighting confirmed, Wow! check this
Mother and calf, with not a care in their jungle
How very fortunate we are to witness this scene
We have to leave them alone, for this we can't bungle
Tsunami Survivors Share Love (Co-written with Carolyn Devonshire)

My Carolyn and I, on Plymouth Hoe we stand
To leave this shire of Devon, to far distant lands
Our desire to leave, and this change in our lives
There's a future out there, for me and my new wife
As i look down on the harbour, at these ships of grand
To be honoured and trusted, my voyage of command
Tomorrow we sail, to the South Seas and beyond
My crew and I, in dutiful naval respond
Even before we set sail, a hurricane did brew
At first we sailed calm seas, if only we knew
For as we headed south, Atlantic waters churned
Yet still my Highlander's passion in my heart burned
A tsunami grew on the eastern horizon
Would we reach our Caribbean destination?
The huge water mass approached and toppled our ship
But James' strong arms ensured that we remained adrift
Tossed and battered, in the midst of her rage
Spewed onto the shore, our bodies and sands engage
Weathered and ashen, we arise in the sun
Deserted and beached, a new day has begun
We view our surrounds, in search of a haven
To collect our thoughts, now in survival craving
It's been many weeks, as we have formed an alliance
Our deserted island called home, in total compliance
A thatched roof he has crafted, shelter from the storms
On this palm-filled beach, two survivors are born
My sweet Highlander climbs and shakes coconuts free
He forages through jungles, brings meat to me
I crafted a spear and have caught many a fish
Whatever I cook, he says it's his favorite dish
When falling sun brings colorful skies, we cuddle
We embrace where nature's other creatures huddle
Its been many many years, on this island of ours
Living with nature, our most wonderful neighbours
We awoke one morning, to see a ship offshore
I turned to my Carolyn, with emotions galore
Do we stay here in paradise, or leave for the new lands
Its what we intended, being deserted was not what we planned
Our signals in tune, we declare to prepare
What we have learnt here, the world needs to share
2012: Invasion of Fear
She tosses and turns, wrinkles the sheets
It's December 21st, but there's so much heat
She notices a light streaming bright from the sky
Runs to the window, a sight meets her eyes
I have written, as the future will have read
That the year 2012 will leave your world dead
An invasion will happen, look to your skies
For you will be visited, to them you're despised
An ominous orb hovers o'er her home
She opens the door, through the woods she roams
One by one, she watches the trees ignite
Surrounded by flames she cowers in fright
The day has been set, earth's fate has been chosen
Humanity, evolution will be eternally frozen
Lights will appear through thickening clouds
When millions of eyes to the heavens will crowd
She realizes now prophecies were true
Though not as expected, death rays come through
She looks up again and beyond the ship
Heavens are opening, skies are parting quick
The alignment of planets will dawn a new age
The might of another will bring humanity rage
Earth as you know it will become with bereave
A dying planet she becomes as her oxygen leaves
As the aircraft departs, she gasps her last breath
Eternal life she earns, just physical death
Stairway to heaven appears before her
The Lord beckons; in soul she did not err

That a few days before
As we clung for our lives
Cast on yon sandy shore
To see Carolyn there
Against the tree
Not a care in the world
Her mind roaming free
Long blond hair
Shouldered slight
Captured by the sun
Golden delight
Her long white dress
Frayed and torn
Visible image
From our previous storm
Revealing shoulders
Back home would be frowned
You should see her now
Like a sexy gown
In her hands she clasps
A flower unknown
Something we learnt
To take back as her own
It's reddish pink colour
Matches her lips
To be so close
Makes my heart skip
The breaking waves
To her beauty they applaud
Seabirds in flight
In fly by, awed
A lapse of time
She raises her head
Eye to eye
The evenings read
Tallahassee to Ormond Beach

Down in Tallahassee
An American lassie stayed
Her poetry is a joy to read
It's the way her writes displayed
Writes on subjects cool
They en captured all our thoughts
Of history and life
Our imaginations caught
To Ormond Beach she travels
Near the ocean she will be
To stay in the family house
Fishing so frequently
And once she's settled in
To the Soup she will return
To grace us with her writes
For more I want to learn
Be safe in your journey
To make yourself at home
For we will all be here
I doubt we'll ever roam

Inspiration in the Heather
Semaj and his American dove
Doing things they so dearly love
Writing co-writes together
As they lie in the heather
They fit like a finger inside a glove
The Classy Lassie from Tallahassee
There once stayed a dove in Tallahassee
With blond hair the bonniest
of lassies
She helped with my writes
Morning, noon and
night
After breakfast, we started to write classy
Against Sunset, "they're" Captured
Heavenly skyline of orange and red
Skeletal treeline in sporadic shred
The line of the bright is turning to night
In smile they grace us, nature's sight
She shows her emotions, sometimes we don't see
This lady all around us so pleases me
Come the 14th of July, this year 2010
Carolyn, look to your skies, and you'll see the birds when
They dip their wings as they fly past you
A poet so wonderful, yes you, I mean you
Enjoy your day into your sun setting night
For these three winged gems, gliding smiling delight
